Everlasting Memories...

"A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words"

As human beings, we experience every little boundary that life hits us with. An upside to this is that we can live these and many more memories one day at a time. That is why me and my friend Budd will be traveling from the Mid-Hudson area to the City area in search of the best eateries around. A journey that will incorporate pictures, video, and our up to date analysis of the restaurants around the greater Hudson Valley Area. Hope you will enjoy reading our blog.

Newburgh Buffet
1431 New York 2300, Newburgh, NY 12550

My first impression walking into the buffet was a familiar one, like I had just returned home after a long trip at sea. All the reddish decorations and Chinese calligraphy reminds me of my Asian background. As we were seated, i looked around and saw the same photograph of a river and a mountain is in the background. It's like an Asian thing, the same exact one can be found hanging in most Chinese restaurants. I have read a lot of reviews on this particular buffet on Yelp and the reviews were mixed, but the majority of them were good. I'm here to experience first hand if those reviews are true or not. I loaded my first plate with coconut shrimp, fried shrimp, lo mein, pepper chicken, string beans, and mussels. My first impression was that everything looked delicious and even the sushi was fresh, prepared as needed by the man running the Mongolian BBQ section. My first bite into my lo mein and string beans was "wow" this is actually pretty good. I moved onto the mussels and pepper chicken, and to my surprise it was all "yummy". On to the last item on my plate, the fried shrimp. Shrimp are one of my favorite seafoods, however peeling it was always a pain in the ass. This was the case here, peeling it took forever. But it was well worth it, the shrimp was perfectly seasoned and fried. (You can never go wrong with fried food!) Next up was the sushi, i had some shrimp, eel, and some California roll. All of the rolls were really delicious, the only thing i can say bad about the sushi was they didn't have any tempura rolls. But, what can i say. "Beggars can't be choosers".

The duck were a little too greasy and was composed of mostly bones which wasn't a good selling point for me. Next up the dim sum was just plain nasty, it tasted like it had been sitting out for hours and was just very soggy in general. I tried both the egg drop soup and the hot & sour soup. Both had the taste of the each soup respectably, unlike some places which have tasted like watered down egg drop or soup that just plain tastes like nothing. The crab leg were perfectly cook, the shell was soft enough to break easily. The only downfall on this was how annoying it was to get the crab out of the shell. Another plus to this buffet was they had lychee which is an asian fruit found mostly in asian market only. I haven't seen that in most buffet.
